Okay tribe, I need to be transparent here.
This post should really be titled – Meditation: The Secret to My Best Self that I SUCK AT.
I mean really, I’m just terrible at it, and not because there’s even a right or wrong way to do it, but because I have yet to make it a priority in life, which would lead to it becoming a habit, which would then lead to it being the secret to my best self.
Nevertheless, I can’t authentically say I’m there.
Okkkurrrrr, I feel better now. The truth is out – I’m pushing a secret without it being the secret ingredient for me (yet).
But, I’ve read + listened to enough about meditation to know that it’s the Real Deal.
So in today’s post, I’ll touch on why meditation can be the secret, the benefits it provides, great resources to start your journey and gift our community the FREE…..

Meditation has existed for THOUSANDS of years to aid in relaxing the mind’s constant thoughts, moving past this layer, and into the deeper depths of clarity, awareness and presence. It’s a tool to slow down, reduce the inner self-talk, and find moments of peace.
Think of it like this….
We awake each day and shower our physical body, our outer layer of self. We do this to wash away the day and night before, release the build up of toxins, and start anew. We literally feel like new upon finishing.
But if we wash our bodies every damn day, why don’t we wash our minds?
Mmmm, such a good thought, right? BKS Iyengar, in his novel Light on Life, used this metaphor for meditation & it’s always stuck with me.
So just like our physical body, our mental body also needs to be washed, cleansed and made anew.
This is why we meditate.
We meditate to release, refresh and begin again with clarity, focus and a fresh start. We meditate to let go of the many, many thoughts that cultivate each day. We meditate to let go of stressors that exist both externally and internally. We meditate to awaken our inner intelligence. We meditate to become closer to our true Self. We meditate to come back home.
We meditate to Live Our Journey.
And if that reason didn’t make sense, invest in the book mentioned above, it’ll spell it out for ya (from the yoga guru himself).
Benefits of Meditation
Okay, we’re diving deeper.
We now understand the premise of meditation & why it’s important, but let’s now understand the benefits* we can experience (when practiced, talking to myself here).
- Lowers high blood pressure
- Decreases tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems
- Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behavior
- Improves the immune system
- Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy
- Anxiety decreases
- Emotional stability improves
- Creativity increases
- Happiness increases
- Intuition develops
- Gain clarity and peace of mind
- Problems become smaller
- Sharpens the mind by increasing focus and expands through relaxation
- An expanded consciousness
