Ever feel like nothing is in alignment, like you just can’t get your groove back, no matter how much effort or intention you draw forth?

I know I have…. and I still do.

But the more I learn about the chakra system, it’s inner workings, how it relates to our livelihood, and the currents of liberation and manifestation, the more I believe we can heal our misalignments, imbalances, and gut wrenching ruts with this system.

And I’ll be the first to admit, it’s an intimidating as hell system, with loads of literature, different opinions, and foreign terms. But like most things that can help enrich us, there’s always an opportunity to start small, keep it surface level, and stick to the basics. I see it as an invitation to place a hand on the doorknob, not to open the actual door, but simply to set the intention and begin the process of turning the knob.

And true to most of life’s endeavors, this is the same scenario I’ve encountered with all my pursuits, whether it be yoga, creating a blog, transforming said blog into a business, invigorating my partnership, or learning how to become a vegetarian.

It starts with a desired interest, a spark of curiosity, and leads to a passionate pursuit to learn more, do more, and become more.

This is how I feel about the chakra system.

I am wholeheartedly enamored with doing all the “mores” to uncover what this ancient practice and universal belief system can do for both myself and my students (as in you, dear student). These “mores” are translating into multiple novels read and waiting to be read, an intense workshop that I plan to attend, today’s yoga sequence, an entire chakra yoga challenge, and the dream to facilitate my own mastermind/goal setting program using the intelligence of our chakra system.

So while yoga is my first love, I have to admit, this chakra system thing has become quite the affair around here.

….. a good affair, don’t you agree.

For today’s yoga flow, our goal is to prepare and set the tone for the next step, the chakra challenge.

Together, we will move through a yoga sequence that aims to awaken, energize, and reconnect us to all the layers that exist: body, mind and soul. We will flow through various yoga postures and transitions that work into each chakra center, in no particular order, but with a desire to touch on each one.

Expect postures like….

  • child’s pose, a grounding asana that awakens the root chakra
  • cat + cow poses, a fluid like transition that awakens the sacral chakra
  • a plank to forearm plank transition that energizes our fiery solar plexus chakra
  • low lunge sun salutations that target the heart + throat chakra
  • a standing series of postures that will continue to connect our chakra system
  • tree pose to reconnect our sixth chakra of intuition
  • a backbend series to harness our heat, moving further into the heart + throat space
  • yogi recess to invert and integrate with our final chakra, the crown chakra

And of course, we’ll end in savasana!

So with all of that said, I urge you to do three things today.

First, do the full body chakra flow to awaken, energize, and reconnect. Second, sign up for the chakra challenge (if you haven’t already). It’s a free seven day experience, what’s there to contemplate yogis! Third, use my threads of experience to inspire your journey of pursuing what interests you moving forward.

And lastly, let’s unroll our yoga mats and do what we came here for!
